A Mother’s Wisdom
The very first Miracle Jesus performed during His Advent into our world occurred at the marriage ceremony in Cana of Galilee. There, Mary called upon the Lord to Give the wedding guests what they lacked in Order to sustain the celebration of that Sacred union.
Turning Water into Wine
“And when they wanted Wine, the mother of Jesus said unto Him, They have no Wine.
“Jesus said unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? Mine hour is not yet come.
“His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever He saith unto you, do it.
“And there were set six waterpots of Stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.
“Jesus said unto them, Fill the waterpots with Water. And they filled them up to the brim.
“And He said unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the Feast. And they bare it.
“When the ruler of the Feast had tasted the Water that was made Wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the Water knew;) the governor of the Feast called the Bridegroom.”
John 2:3-9
Spiritually, our minds and hearts are capable of being filled to the brim with genuine spiritual knowledge about the most important things of all. As we reach deep within ourselves to apply that knowledge to the Way we live our lives, the Lord transforms it into a much more meaningful understanding than anything we could ever conceive of on our own. That new Spiritual understanding allows Him to unite our minds and hearts together with His, in the Light of His Righteousness. Physical marriage on earth is an image and likeness of that Sacred Union.
Now that really is something to Celebrate!
“Get Wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the Words of My mouth.
“Forsake Her not, and She shall preserve thee: love Her, and She shall keep thee.
“Wisdom is the principle thing; therefore get Wisdom, and with all thy getting, get understanding.”
Proverbs 4:5–7
With a mother’s Wisdom, Mary realized that humanity’s Spiritual understanding about the most important things of all had come to an end. She knew full well that Jesus was born into our world to renew that understanding, for without it our ability to become and remain united with Him in Truth and Goodness would also soon come to an end. She recognized that humanity’s need for that Spiritual understanding had never been greater.
“And saith unto Him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but Thou hast kept the Good Wine unto now.”
John 2:10
With a mother’s loving Wisdom, Mary became an example to each of us about our need to abide by the Lord’s instructions in all we think, feel and do. As we serve Him in the Way that He Shows us that we must, His “Hour” does indeed begin to unfold within our lives.
“If ye keep My Commandments, ye shall abide in My Love: even as I have kept My Father’s Commandments, and abide in His Love.
“These things have I spoken unto you, that My Joy might remain in you, and that your joy may be full.”
John 15:10-11
Following Mary’s instructions to serve the Lord by abiding by His Commandments puts us upon firm and fertile ground. Her instructions depict the Wisdom of the Ages.
Exodus 20:12
“Honor thy Father and Thy Mother that they Days may be long upon the Land which the Lord thy God Giveth thee.”
Is there a greater Office than a Mother’s Loving Wisdom instructing us to serve the Lord’s Will on earth, as it is in Heaven, for our Good and for the Good of all around us?
“This is the Lord’s doing; it is Marvelous in our eyes.”
Psalms 118:23

The Spiritual Meaning of Scripture embraces Paul’s heartfelt advice to compare “…. Spiritual things with Spiritual.” – 1 Cor. 2:13 and 2 Cor. 3:6. It explores the Way the Lord brings forth the Beauty of His Love into fruition within your soul. With all humility and respect, I invite you to join me in exploring these Marvelous things, for they reveal the most Beautiful things of all.
