Your Religion and Science
The Apostle Paul writes to us about the invaluable importance of being willing to receive a new understanding about the spiritual meaning of the Lord’s Testimony to us.
“Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely Given to us of God.
1st Corinthians 2:12-13
Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Spirit Teacheth; comparing spiritual things to spiritual.”
As one of many examples about what it means to compare “spiritual things to spiritual” let’s start by discussing the spiritual meaning of the Creation Story.
In Genesis, the letter of the Word states that in the beginning, God Created the earth
and all life on it in seven days. Yet modern science continually validates that the earth and all life on it has evolved over millions of years.
And so, for those that insist that the letter of the Word is infallible, a conflict immediately arises between belief in the literal sense of Bible and the findings of modern science.
That letter of the Word based conflict, and many more like them, cause unnecessary confusion in the minds and hearts of many. They cause ears to close, heads to shake and pews to empty. However, when the Creation Story is understood spiritually, those confusions cease to exist.
“Hear, Ye children, the Instruction of a Father, and attend to know understanding.
Proverbs 4:1-5
For I Give you Good Doctrine, forsake ye not My Law.
For I was My Father’s Son, tender and only Beloved in the sight of My Mother.
He Taught Me also, and said unto Me, Let Thine Heart retain My Words: keep My Commandments, and Live.
Get Wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of My mouth.”
It’s important to recognize that the Lord uses physical things to teach us about spiritual things. When viewed from that perspective, it becomes apparent that there is much more to understanding the True meaning of the Bible than appears on the surface. That realization acts as a Light drawing within our ability to comprehend spiritual things, spiritually.
As you allow yourself to receive that new spiritual comprehension, what was previously dark, and obscure, begins to come into greater clarity within your ability to understand them.
As you continue the work it takes to evolve through that new comprehension, each new stage is described in Genesis as a “night” turning into a new “morning.” Through those internal progressions the Lord Works within you to bring all things Good into fruition within your soul.
The Sabbath Day describes the culmination of those spiritual progressions. In that Blessed state of being the Lord Rests from all the Work He has done to save you from mental, emotional and spiritual harm, and so may you.
“And on the Seventh Day God ended all His Work which He hath made; and He Rested on the Seventh Day from all the Work which He hath made.”
Genesis 2:2
Listen to the Lord’s Testimony about the Way He leads you through each stage of your spiritual progression, until He delivers you into the Place that He has prepared for you since the beginning of time.
“Remember to keep the Sabbath Day, to keep it Holy. Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work:”
Exodus 20:8-9
“He shall deliver thee in six troubles: yea, in Seven there shall no evil touch thee.”
Job 5:19
“In My Father’s House there are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you, I go to prepare a Place for you.”
John 14:2
There is no need to confuse the discoveries of modern science with the spiritual meaning of the Creation Story. The Bible is not a Book about geology or history. Rather, the Lord employs physical and historical things to teach us about the Way He reforms us and transforms us into the person that He has Purposed for us to become. Abiding by that spiritual understanding is our responsibility.
“And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the Garden of Eden to dress it and keep it.”
Genesis 2:15
Letter of the Word misinterpretations about the spiritual meaning of Scripture keep us a darkness and coldness of our own making. The Lord came into our world because we had once again fallen into the pitfalls of thinking that our literal-based misinterpretations were infallible. Are we continuing to make similar mistakes?
Consider: Once, prominent religious leaders stanchly insisted that the sun, planets and stars all revolved around the earth. Their instance was based upon their belief about the infallibility of the letter of the Word.
Do we now accept that those literal-based beliefs were wrong? Can we accept that letter of the Word misinterpretations often mislead us from comprehending spiritual things, spiritually? Are we still evolving in our ability to understand the True spiritual meaning of the Lord’s Testimony to us?
“In the Beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 1:1–5
The same was in the Beginning with God.
All things that were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made.
In Him was Life; and the Life was the Light of men.
And the Light Shineth in the darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.”
“If I have told you about earthly things, and ye believe not, how will you believe if I tell you about Heavenly things?”
John 3:12
